Trip Details
The 2009 bike trip will go from Lansdowne Park in Ottawa to the Public Gardens, in Halifax, on the Atlantic Ocean. Symbolically completing the route that started at the Pacific Ocean in May 1999, the roughly 1,450 kilometres will be completed in two weeks – which everyone claims to be a more appropriate distance since Terry is now 57-years old.
There will be a few other differences between this year's ride and the 1999 CFTC fundraiser. No Rocky Mountains! No strong headwinds on the prairies (seven of 10 days – not that he was counting!). No riding through areas still smoking from recent forest fires, north of Lake Superior. And importantly – no more solo cycling. His daughter, Meghan will ride with him on her first long-distance cycling venture. And his son, Brendan and several friends will make a documentary about the trip.
